7/16/14Scripture"My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism." James 2:1ObservationJames uses the example of discriminating based on appearances to exhort the twelve tribes that are scattered among the nations on the issue of favoritism. However, favoritism is not limited to the difference in treatment between the poor and the rich.ApplicationBased on this chapter, favoritism is forbidden if you call yourself a believer, a Christian. This is an issue of the heart. How do you treat others that are above you vs. those that are beneath you in any aspect? Those that are more fit than you vs. those that are in a worse condition than you?PrayerLord, please help me immediately identify when I am looking down on someone based on looks, social status, popularity, and even those that just constantly make bad decisions. Help me keep focused on the fact that all people need you, regardless of where they are in life. In Jesus' name, Amen!
